How do I stop my dog from peeing where she sleeps?
We have 3 labs and the youngest has started a bad habit of peeing and pooping where all the dogs sleep. For the most part, the youngest dog (1.5 years) sleeps inside with us at night but in the day we put her with the other 2 in an outdoor kennel and doghouse. She always pees and poops in the clean cedar shavings, and will sleep in it but I feel for the other 2 as they have to work hard to try and dig themselves a place that doesn't have her pee in it. How do I break her of this habit??
Sounds like the dog is peeing in an outdoor kennel where there are cedar shavings for bedding. What you may want to do if it is possible, is create a Sand Box for the dog where it can go potty and train the dog to go there instead of the bedding. You would be redirecting your dog from the bedding to the box. If that isn't practical and they aren't in the kennel too long, you may have to potty train the dog to an area you want her to go in outside.
You may need to use a crate and put her in it while she is in the outdoor kennel. Take her out to where you want her to potty before she goes to bed for the night and first thing in the morning.
