Im a first time bike rider on the streets (none residential) and im taking my kids for a bike ride to home depo. I dont wanna break no law so i need help.
To tell you the truth it might be best that you forget about any and all laws and focus on your safety and the lives of your children. It often appears that motorists are very impatient and unforgiving when it comes to cyclists.
Streets are dangerous because motorists feel we (cyclists) take up to much room and slow them down.
Riding on sidewalks can be dangerous because motorists aren’t usually watching for something moving that fast (also applies to wheelchairs). Wear a helmet, keep your kids close to you and expect that cars and trucks may not see you. Even if they do…well..
