Sleep apnea is a medical condition that blocks air passage when a patient sleeps. The best way to treat such patients is to attach them to a CPAP machine before sleeping. As long as the patient is asleep, the machine has to be attached to the patient in order to provide pressurized air to the patient.
Since cpap supplies are medical equipment, you need a doctor's prescription to buy them. Since you are going to use the machine in a continuous basis it is a must to have a set of supplies with you all the time. When something has to be replaced, you cannot be running to the pharmacy every time.
Supplies include filters and tubing most often. There could be a spare mask and a few spare parts for the machine also. Since these are not expensive items, you can afford to have a few of them in stock for use in an emergency.
